review 1: Content Statements:1. Some butterflies have markings on their wings called Eyespots.2. A caterpillar feeds on leaves, eating so much that it must molt.3. A butterfly can grow up to 30,000 times larger than it was when it takes it's first bite.I would have this book placed in my science and nature center within the classroom as it teaches about the process of how a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. This book is perfect for the classroom as it teaches about all types of butterflies. From Monarchs, the worlds tiniest butterfly to the worlds largest butterfly. It has fantastic illustrations as well as real photos of real butterfly species. Full of facts and information about the life process of a butterfly it will leave the children wanting to learn more about butterf... morelies.
review 2: I felt this book was a good choice as an example of nonfiction, as it not only shows the metamorphism a simple creature endures, but can portray to children as young as two that things are not always as they seem and are liable to change be it for the better or worse. The imagery is captivating and certainly can make a book that children may not be as in tuned to seeing as it's not actually a story, much more appealing. less

This is an amazing book. The art is terrific. My kid and I really learned a lot about butterflies.

Good--sound scientifically, but one with real photos would be a lot better, like Nic Bishop.
