review 1: I have no issues about an author being upfront and saying look this isn't a real historical. This is my made up version. No problems at all and I like when authors do that it makes it easier for me to let that go and not scream about all the inaccuracies. I don't read historical/steampunk/period type books. I sometimes do venture out my contemporary cave and I did like the idea of an arranged marriage. The world is fine with a male-male union so that's one issue that's taken away. Anthony is a scientist but he is seen with disdain, his soon to be husband Stephen is the more upstanding citizen and much more respected from societies point of view. The issue I had with this book it is so underdeveloped. The characters and story were so weak.
review 2: I REALLY like
... mored this book; it reads like a fairy tale in away, somehow distorted from the tone of a normal historical romance. It has erotic scenes, that are completely inoffensive and compassionate. My only disappointment is the length. There is a complete story here, the two main characters are interesting and/or charming. There is a romantic plot and another more practical story line. I wish the story was longer, the ending seemed a little rushed, and there was so much MORE that could have happened towards the end. So, my opinion is positive, seeing how I wish there was more. I sincerely hope we find more books, novel length, from this author. less
