review 1: This is the first book I've ready in several years that I would actively promote. It's a series of interrelated short segments from different perspectives involving the lives of people in a town in Ireland during the recent economic setback. It's a short, incredibly interesting read. Reviews compare it to Faulkner. It's much more approachable than Faulkner but has the same aspect of feeling as though you're hearing people speak rather than reading a book.
review 2: I'm not sure why this book is on a bunch of different book lists. The characters were vague and the intertwining stories were not terribly compelling.
