review 1: Donna Jo Napoli is a name I associate with fantasy writing, and this...isn't that. I thought somehow it was going to be. But even without those expectations, this book fell short for me. It just dragged on and on, and the teenage concerns felt really...teenage, and not things I strongly identified with - even though I think they could have been! Sep's fears are understandable and realistic for a teen response to her condition, but I just felt impatient with the whole thing. I liked the unapologetic sexual awakening part of this, as it's a very sex positive model for readers and is integrated with Sep's general journey of self-understanding - I just wish the journey had been better drawn.
review 2: I put this in the category of Jaquelyn Mitchard's story about ki
... moreds living with XP that bars them from ever coming in contact with natural light. The concept if done well would be a great story where readers can learn and endear themselves to the character's struggle, but I was disappointed that this book didn't do that. I did not like Sep and thought her reactions were oddly non-teen and that while the cover and Anderson's description of it being sexy, were not really. Sadly disappointed. less

most of the content in this book was irrelevant and I didn't enjoy the way the story was told

Definitely weird. New topic. Nice plot. But not a very good ending.
