review 1: This is the story the recent movie is based on, and is a great story. Reviving a character in comics who has been long dead is always a controversial subject around many comic fans. And the character in question was always viewed as a character many thought Marvel would never bring back. This book proves that resurrecting a character not only can be done, but it can be done incredibly well without feeling like a train wreck. The creators set this story up as an espionage/thriller instead of a more traditional super hero story, which works very well. There is still plenty of action, and there is no mistaking that this is the Marvel universe the story takes place in, but there is a tone established that adds "realism" to a story with plenty of fantastic elements. Bruba... moreker nails the various personalities of the characters, and does a great job establishing who the Winter Soldier is, and why he is so dangerous, well before he enters the stage. If you are a fan of the movie, you should definitely give this a try. The movie takes quite a few liberties with the story, but still retains its spirit.
review 2: Sam: "Yep, got a call from Nick Fury, said you might need a friend."Cap: "Yeah... Yeah I really do Sam." :')Certainly a very serious collection. There are some really nightmarish people in this arc, particularly Karpov and Lukin. Also had some Jack Monroe feels. It's interesting to note that despite a zillion differences between this and the film, there were some panels that matched up exactly, such as the "Who the hell is Bucky?" head turn, and the arm smashing shield panel.All in all, more sadness and frustration for Cap. less
