review 1: A good spy thriller graphic-novel. It's the 1970s and Velvet Templeton is the thirtysomething administrative assistant to the head of Arc-7, the world's most classified espionage service. Someone decides it should be simple enough to frame her as a double-agent ... but Velvet isn't just a paper-pusher, she's a retired Arc-7 field agent. And Arc-7 field agents are very, very deadly. A mix of LeCarresque realism and Bondian super-spy stuff, it's a lot of fun.
review 2: As thrilling as I could have hoped, Velvet kicks ass. But though she takes center stage (in all her badass, sometimes-naked glory), the men around her are either bearded, bald, or completely, interchangeably, generically "handsome". As the plot hinges upon several of these sweet young things gett
... moreing betrayed and killed, their blandness made it difficult to be invested in their fate. Then again, perhaps that's just so I wouldn't miss them after they died... chomping at the bit for volume 2, can't wait! less
