review 1: This was my first Edward Marston book and I don't know if this is typical of his books. It was a good story but a little stodgy. The ending was a little disappointing as I felt as if information had been left out in terms of the mystery. Agatha Christie tends to do this too. So maybe it is a " British " thing. All that being said I'm giving it a four and reading another one of his books to see if I don't think better of him.
review 2: I saw some of the author's books in the library so thought I would give them a try. Interesting premise, so it's easy to turn the pages. However, the writing is plodding and awkward.
