review 1: I had never read an Elin Hilderbrand book before this one, but I liked it okay. I wasn't a huge fan of the characters, but it was fun to see how they worked out the situations they got themselves in. That said, some of them didn't work out their problems at all, and I kind of liked how it ended with some things completely up in the air. I'm interested to see if Hilderbrand will continue with the Quinn family's story, and I think I might check out her previous books to see if they are at all connected. Not necessarily a cozy Christmas read, but sometimes one with a little drama and strife is a good change off pace. The narration of the audiobook was okay, nothing to write home about, but not terrible. It did the trick.
review 2: Okay, I am being generous with a
... morethree star rating based on literary execution. you know plot, theme, style. But it does deserve a three for the fact that it was a quick, breezy read through a dysfunctional family Christmas of the upper economic strata and one does engage enough to want to know what happens to the characters. I was hoping for more setting details of Nantucket, but only recognized Murray's and the sandwich counter at the village drugstore. In my personal experience my visit to the village drugstore was delightful. I will try another one of Hilderbrand's titles to see if she writes with more setting details. This title did provide a diversion from the holiday hustle. less

Not my usual sort of book, but an enjoyable one mainly chosen for the Nantucket setting.

An entertaining Christmas story. Clearly the beginning of a series.
