review 1: An intriguing narrative of the early work in psychoanalysis done by Josef Breuer, the horrors of a concentration camp in Nazi Germany, and one girl's use of stories and fairy tales to survive, which ties everything together. It is classified as a fiction title, but a lot of the details are historical accurate (based off my bit of research), which I felt added great depth to the fictional side of the story told by the young girl. A great read!
review 2: It's hard to pin this book as a 3-star or 4-star, because it has so many different elements and some of them work better than others. Without giving too much away, it was hard to see where this book was going, and that was part of what made it enjoyable, at least for me. It did not end up where I thought it would
... more, and though I'm not wholly satisfied with the ending, I thought the structure was compelling (even if one of the stories felt a little tedious). I also have a deep and abiding affection for books that use repetition for effect, which was done well, in parts. Overall, a worthwhile read about the meaning and power of fairytales and stories. less

Amazing read, kept me guessing all the way through. Haunting, heartbreaking, and gripping.

80 pages left. I stopped. I'm probably in the minority but I thought it tedious.
