review 1: I read Elizabeth Berg every now and then because her books are comforting and optimistic. Every now and then I enjoy entering into the life of other women and listening in on their conversations and seeing how they decorate their homes, what they eat, how they spend their time, and how they solve their problems. If the situations feel a little contrived or predictable, I don't mind. The thing that Berg does consistently in her novels, that makes up for any weaknesses in her writing (in my opinion), is that she reminds us of the beauty in the ordinary and the importance of slowing down and savoring the moment. This wasn't her best novel, but it did for me what I wanted it to, so I'm a satisfied customer.
review 2: This book is about four women who take a trip
... more into their past, to find again the people they miss, and to reconnect with their fortunes. No one knows what they will find, but all are willing to risk it.Cecilia Ross is a motivational speaker who lost her best friend to cancer. She never married and wants to find her one true love Dennis. One woman is a divorce mother of a disrespectful daughter. Reenie is a lesbian who after one fling with a man got pregnant, gave up her daughter, and is now going to see her. The other is a woman who is hooking up with her ex husband after many years.Bottom line of this book - you are never too old for love. less
