Bachelor Chronicles
review 1: Light-hearted Regency romp. James Tremont, Duke of Parkerton, is accidentally mistaken for a solicitor but he doesn't correct the mistake, instead he takes on the job of matchmaker for Elinor, Lady Standon. This is definitely part of two series, the three Lady Standon books and the Langley sisters and their cousin Pippa. If at all possible, read the Bachelor Chronicles as a set to enhance your enjoyment. One by one the supporting characters realize that the solicitor helping Elinor is actually the Duke, resulting in much humor.James Tremont is tranformed from stuffy reclusive Duke to a lively engaging lovable sort of fellow. Elinor is given a second chance at love after a bleak first marriage.Stunning conclusion with lots of excitement and suspense, a real break from the e... morearlier light-hearted tone of the book.
review 2: A person does not read HR to get tortured but that's apparently what some writers have in their mind. The whole book was filled with utter nonsense. The thing that made me really lose it was the Duke and his servants. At the end how could he make that stupid love sick speech instead of giving them a good thrashing for putting him and his beloved bi*** in jeopardy. They could have flipping died (which would have been a blessing) and all he says to them is that he knows they have his best interest at heart? Really? What crap. They didn't have his best interests they didn't want him to get married so the house keeper could keep on running the house and the other servants wouldn't have to follow any orders either. Just giving my honest (if somewhat angry) opinion is all. less
