review 1: Just as a depressed Jack is considering offing himself, he gets an unexpected call from his ex-girlfriend, Jess. She is in labor with what Jack just finds out is HIS son! A quirky teenage philosopher, Jack and his buddy, Tommy, wax philosophical throughout the weird road trip to Jack's Baba's house...Oh, and they are on the lam from the police and are accompanied on said trip by Jess and the baby, dubbed, "Socrates." Amusing, whip-smart, & oddly sweet, this is a mature YA book, due to content and salty language.

... moread between the lines it's a story about life and just wondering how to move on and keep going. Sometimes the world becomes just way too large for you to comprehend. I like how reading this book really made me contemplate my own experiences. It's rare when a book does that and yet gets you to laugh at the same time. less

Funny, but most of the philosophy references went right over my head. Reminded me of Going Bovine.
