review 1: Despite the somber beginning this book presents an optimistic view of people and society. Christie, a young mother is being released from prison and no one believes that she was innocent. Samantha Ferguson is picking her and taking her to live in a house near Asheville, NC. Samantha, her mother Georgia, principal of an alternative high school, Reverend Ana, and Harmony Stoddard, a free spirited young mother, consider themselves to be Anonymous Goddesses. They are able to assist women in need thanks to the generosity of Charlotte Hale who bequeathed a home in the mountains to them for the purpose of helping other women. There are two intertwined plot lines - Christie has several secrets which affect her ability to overcome the difficulties in her past. Georgia has never kno... morewn who her parents were and is suddenly confronted with a mysterious piece of evidence that could answer her questions. How Georgia and Christie help each other makes for a good story that leaves the reader with a good feeling.
review 2: My FIRST Richards book! Although after the fact, I read that they should probably be read in order. But none the less. I loved this book to pieces. First off, LOVE the cover. Second off, it is LARGE. 2 different women. What a beautiful story Richards has woven. The Goddess House is where we end up. I love books about women, choices we make and friendships. Richards doesn't disappoint on any level. While this book might have some romance, it has SO much more! You will be pleasantly surprised!Although a lot of it might be cliché and so predictable, I thought that Christy and Georgia each had their own qualities that singly belonged to them and really made the book enjoyable. What made it even more enjoyable is the townships really exist!!! And any book that discusses literacy is a plus in my book! Happy reading! less
