review 1: I have read a dozen or so books by this author and have enjoyed them. This one was surprisingly good. It is the story of Georgia Ferguson and Chrissy Haviland, two women whose lives intersect on journeys of self discovery. The author treats the topic of dyslexia with sensitivity and honesty. Family is a central theme with characters that are well developed. All in all, an excellent read that I hated to see end.
review 2: This is the second installment of The Goddesses Anonymous series, but you could read this as a stand alone. The women, who call themselves the Goddesses, have given refuge to Christy, recently released from jail. Abandoned by her family, framed for a crime she didn't commit by the man she believed she loved, and having given birth to her ... moreson in prison, Christy desperately needs friends. Christy is dyslexic and finding work is not easy. She has left her son with a trustworthy cousin, unsure if she is prepared for motherhood. With the help of Georgia, a school administrator, Christy is learning to read. Supported by all the Goddesses and several neighbors of the remote cabin, Christy is given a second chance and finds within herself the strength to do what is right despite the possible consequences. Georgia too is grappling with her past and discovering what it means to have a family. She is also falling in love with Lucas, a famous author. The story addresses some current educational and social issues with compassion. Looking forward to the next in the series. less
