review 1: Tilly should never have been skating on the frozen lake at Frost Hollow Hall when she fell through the ice. She only survived because, while underwater, an angelic boy led her to the bank where she was pulled from her icy grave. Tilly is convinced that the boy was the ghost of Kit Barrington, the heir to Frost Hollow Hall who drowned in the same lake 10 years earlier. Why did he rescue her? What does he want? Tilly will not rest until she has solved the mystery.
review 2: A beautifully-written and atmospheric ghost story with thrills and chills, but with a cast of wonderfully warm and believable characters too. I was a big fan of Frances Hodgson Burnett as a child, so I particularly loved the setting at the grand Frost Hollow Hall and all the period detail. Alt
... morehough it's a ghost story the intelligent way in which the main character, Tilly, deals with the supernatural happenings make it more thrilling than terrifying. A fabulous book. I can't wait to see what Emma Carroll comes up with next. less
