review 1: (I received an ARC of this book.) This novel is a very well-written account of a university student's year abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland. The descriptions of the city are gorgeous and vivid, and anyone who's ever been on an adventure will recognize Hadley's excitement as she falls in love with her surroundings and the new life she has embarked upon. The book takes an unexpected darker turn midway through and becomes a much more complex story of self-discovery, as well as an exploration of how the people in our lives impact it in myriad ways. Hadley grows up quite a bit over the course of the year, but not necessarily in the ways she expected.
review 2: "TOP PICK! Beautiful, descriptive language is the hallmark of Hall's latest novel set in the beautiful city
... moreof Lausanne in Switzerland. Hall uses the lakeside city as a wonderful backdrop for her moving tale of love and innocence lost. With a beautifully intricate plot and natural interactions between her characters, Hall weaves a story that encompasses romance, mystery and a personal journey - all with a steady pace and subtle intrigue. A remarkable read." RT Book Reviews, rtaed 4 1/2 stars less
