review 1: An enjoyable read which I was glad to pick up every day. The story holds your interest because you know there is something that happened that completely changes Beth's life and relationships, and the writing is clever enough not to make this too obvious so it is quite a surprising plot twist. I was not always convinced of the realism of the characters' actions but it was a book I enjoyed with a satisfying ending.
review 2: This book would make a good holiday easy read. Beth Lowe has been sent a parcel containing the Book of Summers. In it is a letter from Hungary telling her that her estranged Mother , Marika ! Has died . The book is full of photos compiled by her mother of the seven summers Beth spent with her in Hungary. The book brings back the past for B... moreeth and the terrible family secrets that resulted in Beth never seeing her Mother again. I felt at the end of the book that some lines in the story were left un answered and others rather rushed. What happened when she saw Zoltan again and what happened to Tomas ? less
