review 1: 7 short biographies about 7 great and unique men from history. It was interesting to read the intro and that the heart of this work is to provide examples to young men of true manhood. Metaxas holds to a belief that something has been distorted more so in recent times and the hearts of men are yearning and looking for good and Godly examples in their lives. Washington, Wilberforce, Liddel, Bonhoeffer, Robinson, John Paul II, and Colson provide a variety or examples of what it looks like to be given opportunity, power, and responsibility in life and how to wield it for the benefit of others, sometimes at great cost to yourself.
review 2: This is a great introduction to Eric if you were thinking about reading one of his books. He offers up the lives of men whose
... morelives are extraordinary because of God working through them. They're inspiring stories. I've read his Bonhoeffer and Wilberforce biographies, and while both of them were somewhat repeated in this book, it was a treat hearing their stories - though much more condensed - once again. I recommend reading it this winter. less

Show me don't tell me... the power of biographical storytelling in an age of suspicion.

Good read but I would have liked it to be a longer book: more than 7 men.
