review 2: ... moreA very detailed biography of Bonhoeffer. So much detail that one must have a thorough interest in this subject to clear through the book in good time. If you are looking for a war story, there is way too much information here. Includes details of his trips to the US, Switzerland, Barcelona and much of his early life in Germany. The author does a good job of letting the reader discover the nature of Bonoeffer through his very words. However, the context given of many of his quotes have left some critics to question the accuracy of Metaxas' use of such quotes. Details many of his struggles and difficulties. By reading this book, one will also learn a lot about the war. Very interesting! less
