review 1: I really wanted to like this. It just fell so short of my expectations. Why? I've read TPBs where Michael Holt, the world's third smartest man and former Olympic champion was a supporting character. What was highlighted in those tales was that Holt is usually the smartest person in the room. In Mind Games, frankly Holt comes off no smarter than say Bruce Wayne. That's smart, but not T'Challa (as written by Christopher Priest) or Reed Richards smart. Even Holt is appalled that he resorts to sheer physical violence to beat a villain.Possibly the biggest issues is the forces he is asked to defeat. Even the problems he faces in his personal and business life are pretty much copies of a Tony Stark story. The villains are instantly forgettable. In other words, everything t... morehat made this character unique is missing.
review 2: I did not finish this volume. I could not make it past issue four. There is nothing that works in Mr. Terrific. The biggest problem with the series is the writing. There is more than enough plot in the first issue, but it still manages to be boring. The dialogue is horrible, and every scene is awkward. None of the characters talk like they are human. The villains are goofy. I do not know if Brainstorm is supposed to be the old Brainstorm with the cone head, but this Brainstorm does not look too much better. He looks like Dr. Manhattan with a Wi-Fi symbol on his head. The art is not good. The characters are drawn badly, with everyone kind of misshapen most of the time. It is quite often pretty ugly. It is so bad that Power Girl actually looks flat-chested for a good portion of the first issue. The fight scenes just look like they are posing. The only good part about this comic is the reassurance that Karen Starr, one of my favorite characters, still exists. Power Girl is supposed to be making an appearance, which is great, but I still won't be reading. Of the canceled books in the New 52, this one is the most deserving. less

The only thing that's terrific about this book, is the title.
