review 1: I loooove this book!Like someone said in one of the reviews, it showed that there are always two sides of the story. How Jazz and Dean lived their story and interpreted what was going on between them was totally different. I think that the lack of communication between them is the main cause for it.I was rooting for Dean for most of the story. His attempts to regain Jazz's thrust and love seemed really sincere. He kind of disappointed me near the end though (C'mon Dean, I did not pull an all-nighter for you to mess up things like that!). I feel like Jazz was too kind with him on that part, too kind!Jazz was a really strong character. I mean he didn't just open his hands for Dean and forgive him. I only wished that he had listened to Dean's explications sooner though.Eric ... morehad to be my favorite supporting character. I found him too cute. I also liked Cal-Al. What a great friend he was! He didn't judge Jazz and just did his best to support him. I can't wait to read his book. The other members of Black Hurricane and Jazz's friends rock too!I want to say a big thank you to Heather K for recommending me this book. I truly love it!
review 2: (This story was provided free via the Goodreads Don't Buy my Love Read and Review program in return for an honest review.) I really really enjoyed this. Really well written. Great characters, Jazz was just fabulous. I really loved how he lived on his own terms, loved and lived the way he wanted and made no excuses. I REALLY enjoyed how he didn't immediately fold and allow Dean back in, that's a huge pet peeve of mine. So in the end Dean had to really work for it. And then in the end when it turned out his instincts were right (the "reunion" with Dean was a PR stunt/setup), he didn't immediately fall back into angstland, he evaluated the reasons why Dean did what he did and then made his choices. To contrast, I really did NOT like Dean for most of this book, first he broke Jazz's heart, used him and then stole Jazz's song! Then WOULD NOT own up to it even when Jazz was right there! I wanted to call a lawyer for Jazz, I swear. The reveal of Dean's past and all the things that happened started to temper the character with me, then he turned on the charm and, yeah, just really grew on me by the end, even after everything. Making me change my mind about a character in a book is something I absolutely love by the way!! The only niggle I have on the whole was that although it did say you didn't need to read the prior books before this one I felt like I was missing something between the previously introduced characters, mainly Jesse and Adam. They were LOVELY don't get me wrong, just felt like something was missing. I will likely go back and read books 1 and 2 but, again, just a minor distraction and didn't impact my overall enjoyment of the book much. less
