review 1: The book Tallstar’s Revenge by Erin Hunter is a must-read for any and all fans of the Warriors series. Hunter’s writing reminds me of the book Ender’s Game, because the writing has a vague sci-fi aspect to it. One strength about the book is that it has excellent detail. As I read, I could imagine a little movie playing inside my head that was based on all the information I was reading in the book. Sandgorse, Tallstar’s father, reminds me of my old soccer coach who always wanted only winners on his team. Similarly, Sandgorse has a great desire for his son to become a tunneling warrior rather than a moor running warrior. I would recommend it to a classmate because it has many positive aspects and is easy to understand. This book is part of a series but is stand-alone... more, meaning that there are no sequels to it.
review 2: This book was very well written, and had a great story. It was about friendship, loss, revenge, and forgiveness, which are all important things in life. I liked how, even though Tallstar/tail/paw/kit was the main character, things happened to characters besides him. This book was different than other books of the same genre, even other warriors books, because there are real life lessons in "Tallstar's Revenge". For example, when Tallstar's is younger and thinks his mother doesn't love him, she really does love him, but is just having other things going on in her life, which he learns when he receives one of his nine lives from her. Also, Tallstar's father teaches him that revenge is never the answer, no matter what happened, you should not seek vengeance. When Tallstar's first met Jake, he looked down on him for being a kittypet, but as they traveled together, they developed a very strong friendship, a bond that could not be broken by anything. And even Shrewtail's death was hard on Tallstar, even though Shrewtail had teased Tallstar for his whole life, they had still formed a bond that one could call the beginning of a friendship. And Shrewtail only died because he seemed vengeance for his mother's death, which he ended up dying in vain. less
