review 1: 3 1/2 starsThis book just didn't have the 'Erin Hunter feel' for me. I didn't get that sense of style in the writing. I was prepared to enjoy the books but was disappointed that the entire first book was mostly about hungry dogs trying to get food. That's basically it. Hungry dogs learning to hunt and function as a pack to stop their hunger.I don't know if my dislike for the book was due to the different people writing it than the original Warriors series or the fact that there didn't seem to be 'a real plot' or a conflict that made me want to read. In the first book of Warriors I felt like I was sucked into the plot and the characters and whisked away. In Survivors I just didn't get that same magical feeling.
review 2: I didn't think I'd have such a reaction t... moreo reading this book, but I did. I'm a dog-lover though, and the fact that I have one made it easy for me to imagine what life would be like for my dog if something similar to the big growl happened over here; I was able to imagine her in the pack with Bella, being distraught over my sudden disappearance. And overall, I found this story to be saddening to say the least. if you're a soft-hearted animal lover like me, you'll probably feel a little depressed in the beginning. however, it does get better! so I recommend this book to you, and to anyone who's up for reading about a pack of dogs and their adventurous struggle to survive. less
