review 1: I really really liked this book, the experience this boy had has attracts me to read this book. This book is mainly about a boy called Hal,which he desperately wants a dog,but his mum dislikes the scratches, puddles and all the mess on the floor, and refuses to get a dog for him, finally his dad got a dog for him in the Easy Pets agency, but it's just for the weekend not forever...My favourite character is Hal,because imagine if you were someone who's parents doesn't like dogs, and doesn't let you own a dog,but only allows you to have the dog for the weekend, what would you feel?,I would feel a bit sad.I recommend this book to my family and my classmates.
review 2: This is a really sweet story about a group of rental dogs all looking for their true companions. I'm not
... morea person who goes for sappy animal stories, but this one touched me with its humor and originality. Hal runs away from home because his rich stuck-up parents took away the only thing he ever wanted- his dog Fleck. He is joined by Pippa and five other dogs from the pet rental agency who refuse to be left behind. Along they way they find the perfect home for each of them- although none will stay because they are determined to finish the journey with Fleck and his boy. There is some dry humor in there that some kids will miss as well as some British references that American kids won't get, but despite this I think this will be a popular one among elementary kids. It would make a good read-aloud for younger kids as well as an individual read for older kids.Recommended for grades 1-6. less
