review 1: I do love the fated mate theme in some books. Eve Langlais does it so well. This is the second in a trilogy of wolf shape-shifters stories. I really liked #1 "Defying The Pack" and I really enjoyed this one too. There were several erotic and sensual scenes with her fated lovers. Bailey loses her jerk boyfriend and best girlfriend because she found out they were sleeping together. Her parents died a year ago. Her job doesn't lend itself much to meeting new people working nights and all. Her TV breaks down. She decides to take a cab to a local Honky-Tonk and meet some new people. (a man perhaps) Well the first guy she meets is this big hunk of a blond dude. He buys her a beer and gets her name, gives his, "My name's Gavin by the way". Her tummy tingles here, her spine shiver... mores there. What's a girl to do after all. I just love it.Before they get a chance to get to know each other Gavin's friend comes up (Oooo! He's hot too!) and tells him about a job they're supposed to be doing, so he has to go. He asks her if she would wait for him to come back in an hour or so and she agrees. Now I wouldn't have agreed to that under any circumstances, BUT.... They felt a special attraction ...even the friend felt it. hmmmm! Sooooo...The guys go back to the club later than planned and Bailey isn't there. But they realize she didn't leave under ideal circumstances. That's all I telling. Gotta buy the book. Don't forget there's really good sex scenes, Hot, Hot, Hot! Now on to #3 "Seeking Pack Redemption". Beware Not the best HEA. Book 3 is out now. From what I'm led to understand It's more typical Eve Langlais.
review 2: 3 1/2 stars. I started out very much liking the book, but an odd, unfinished ending and lack of a complete HEA took away my book-loving-bliss.My Issues:Some wording just didn't sit right with me. I've never called my lady parts a "cleft", but that was just about the only word that Bailey thought of when describing her tingling bits. And then in one scene, she describes one of the men's thrusting action as "seesawing". Sorry, but that's an analogy better left on the playground.I'm not happy with the treatment of the youngest, Jaxon, by the three other men in the story. Parker, Wyatt, and Gavin act like he's the red-headed step-child of their group, call him names and otherwise talk down to him. One scene from his point of view shows just how bothered Jaxon is by their behavior and how excited he is to finally have a chance at a mate with Bailey. I thought his characterization and treatment by the author was unfair. The love scenes just didn't evoke passionate feelings for me. While I liked them, they really seemed a bit lacking and although I wouldn't qualify the book as being tame or mild by any stretch, because there are several love scenes between Bailey and the men, they just didn't do it for me. The one chance for a scorching menage scene at the end was a letdown as well.My Likes:In spite of the issues I had, I liked the book. I thought the world that Eve created for the wolves - a secret compound deep in the woods without human knowlege of their existence - was very cool. I liked the rule that lycan women had to choose between two and four men to mate with forever, but the women were allowed to choose those men. The bad guy - Roderick - was truly evil and the way he controlled his minions was cool. Bailey's reactions to her situation were funny and realistic. I especially enjoyed her private time with Parker. She's a well-written heroine that was neither too stubborn or too wimpy. The four men were clearly drawn characters, each their own unique person and easy to tell apart. Sometimes in multiples' stories, the men can blur into each other until you can't remember who is who, but that doesn't happen with this book at all.All in all, I am a fan of Eve and I will look towards the third book in the series to see what happens. I'm not giving up on the Pack yet. less
