review 1: Torin and his crew are space mercenaries, working for the highest bidder. Torin is in need of a pilot for his ship when he happens on Rain, trying to escape the law. Torin takes him aboard and tests his skills as pilot and agree to let him fly for their current mission. The relationship of Torin and Rain started off rocky, even thought there was definitely an attraction simmering between them from the beginning. We find out more about Rain and Torin's background much later but nothing about Jeret or Cookie yet. Torin is one of those men whose had his trust broken so he stays cautious with Rain in regards to his feelings. He sees Rain as a playboy, because he is, but there is also something else in Rain that attracts him beside his body. I think I enjoyed this mostly becau... morese I love the sound of Jack LeFleur's voice and that even though it was a sci-fi, the author didn't have anyone with an unpronounceable name or a crazy made up language that is sometimes in sci-fi stories. And call me crazy, but I like the thought that there will be black people in outer space. Well, black men at least. lol I'm definitely looking forward to checking out the next books in this series. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Jack LeFleur narrates them as well.
review 2: The most I can say about this is that it was adorable and sweet. I liked all the characters and the world was interesting. The way the romance went was not only fast (though not half as fast as some) but kind of... Amateur-ish? Maybe I expected something else and am judging it too harshly, but I didn't enjoy it half as much as I expected to. Still nice though. I still adore Fae and will get as many of her and Margaret's work as I can! They made too strong an impression on me with The Gladiator's Master for anything else. less
