review 1: Four short stores by Fern Michaels, Nancy Bush, Rosanna Chiofalo, and Lin Stepp centering around the Christmas season. “Candy Canes and Cupid” by Michaels is about a woman who is forced to forgo a beach vacation when she is called to snowy Colorado by one of her clients. However, when she meets Liam McConnell, a successful security expert, she realizes the snow is not too bad. “White Hot Christmas” by Bush is about PI Jane Kelly and her continued infatuation with her boss Dwayne. With a little mistletoe, he gets into the Christmas spirit too. “Seven Days of Christmas” by Chiofalo is a little sad when Bianca’s fiancé is killed during a trip to Austria. Five years later, she returns to Austria to try and put the past behind her. She meets the manager of th... moree hotel and his child and begins to get her life back. “A Smoky Mountain Gift” by Stepp is about a woman returning to Townsend, TN to operate the co-op after her aunt’s death. She runs into her old boyfriend and they both realize they have feelings for each other.
review 2: I love Christmas anthologies. One of my great pleasures is reading a story a night leading up to Christmas. This book was not a great pleasure. Fern Michaels' story read like the beginning of a full-length novel. Then, it seems she remembered it was supposed to be a short story, so she wrapped it up in two pages. The second story, by Nancy Bush, just droned on without any character development at all. The beginning of the third story, by Rosanna Chiofalo, was so bad I almost quit reading the book all together. But then a Christmas miracle seemed to take place, and that story got better. The last story, by Lin Stepp, was good, but it's not enough to save this book. less
