This book sat in my library for a while. I just wasn’t sure about it. It was one of those books that just has to sit and stew for a while. The premise is that two men, Liam and Daniel, who are in a dedicated D/s relationship, decide to bring in a third partner so that Daniel, who is the submissive half, can hone his Dominant skills. Yep, Danny boy is a Switch. Enter ‘Alex,’ who they assume is a man. Nope. Alex is a girl. Plot twist number two; Liam and Daniel aren’t gay, they are bi.
Now, normally MM romance isn’t my thing. It just doesn’t do anything for me, but I bought it because I was intrigued about the whole ‘two masters dominating one sub’ thing. And it was cheap. I have no self control. Anyways, a couple nights ago I was bored and decided to close my eyes and read the first random book I came to…and it was this one. With not-so-high expectations, I began reading. HOLY LORD, I need a cold shower ASAP. Like, turn on the AC and get me a beer. Whew.
The dynamic between Liam and Daniel was perfect. It was interesting to see how it evolved as they adjusted to having a third person added to the relationship. It was fun watching Daniel switch between sub to Liam and Dom to Alex. He was perfect. In the beginning I wasn’t sure I would like the MM scenes, but watching through Alex’s eyes made them hot. For me though, the best parts were when all three played together.
The surprises just kept coming as far as my expectations of this book and what I thought I would like. In one scene, Alex is punished by being cuffed, blindfolded and placed in a large dog cage. Usually when a D/s dynamic involves a dog cage, its an instant DNF (Did Dot Finish) for me. Humiliation/Degradation is definitely NOT my kink. (All together now – your kink is not my kink but your kink is ok…) However, I got to that part in the book and waited for the ‘put down the book’ feeling…and it never came. In the context of the story, it worked. Yes, I said that. I’m still a bit confused too but we’re going with it. I think it was how it all went down. There was none of the usual Humiliation/Degradation that normally accompanies scenes with dog cages. I didn’t find it sexy, but it was ok. I still don’t like dog cages.

Plot 3.5/5 I liked the story enough to buy the second book. That in itself says a lot considering my previous reservations. I LOVED the characters. I loved the love between Liam and Daniel. They were perfect. I found myself wanting everything to work out; like, I needed things to work out. I guess sometimes branching outside of your comfort zone plays off! Lesson learned.
Smut 4/5 Damn. The dirty bits of this book were so, so good. And there were a lot of dirty bits.
