review 1: There are times in my busy life when I just need a simple story book to read and let me escape. This book did that for me. I have never read a Fern Michaels book until The Blossom Sisters. I happened to come across this book at my local library and started reading it in October. I thought the story was good, but I was disappointed that more was not revealed about Elaine, who practiced voodoo and witchcraft. I will probably read more Fern Michael's books in the future.
review 2: If I could give this book 2 and a half stars I would, but I just didn't think it was good enough for 3 stars. I liked the storyline and the characters. The ending was not what I would hope or wanted though. There was not any real justice and the "bad' character ended up just ... moregetting off of her crimes and yeah, there is a note that eventually she ends up not rich, but she was a gold-digger! She used multiple men and blackmailed many people. So what kind of ending is one where yeah the good guy didn't have to pay, but only because she decides to let him off the hook? Anyways, that was my biggest issue with the book, my other minor (yet kept getting under my skin) is how concentrated the author was on dogs. I am not an anti-animal person, and I know the author is a big animal lover, but there is only so much I can like about a book that keeps veering off subject to talk about their animals. I mean constantly the dogs diets were discussed, their love of their pets, them talking to their animals, etc. Just too much for me. less
