review 1: Very nice concept to follow a dinner party (happenings & thoughts) through the eyes of 3 characters. Everything & everybody is such real life -like, that I couldn't put down this short book, and had to read it till dawn... (If you are thirty something, you will recoginse yourself in one or more characters :) )1 star minus though just because the ending is soooo not possible!Come on!!!
review 2: This was a short, almost novella like novel about a group of college friends that are now in their 30s. Joana and Andre are a married couple that pretty much only got married because it was the right thing to do--the next step. Filipe and Pedro are single playboys, except Pedro has finally found himself a nice girl. Filipe has a hard time committing because his first ... morelove broke his heart and disappeared. Maria and her fiance broke up a year ago because he realized he was gay. Antonio married his secretary. Joana and Andre have a dinner party, and everyone seems to realize that their lives just aren't quite what they expected them to be when they were in college.This was originally written in Portugese, and I honestly think it lost a bit in translation. It was interesting and fast paced, and the characters were fairly interesting, there just seemed to be...something missing, and I'm sure that whatever it was probably is present in the original version.All in all, though, it was a fairly good read. less
