review 1: Catagory: RequiredMarcelo is an autistic child that hears music in his head. The book follows him as he gets exposed to the “real world.” His father has him work at his law firm and he sees all sorts of dishonesty there. When he discovers a photo of a girl with injuries, he is forced to choose between what his father tells him and what he knows to be right. I like that the story is told from Marcelo’s point of view. It’s a very interesting perspective as an innocent child is forced to overcome the negative influences of the world and do the right thing. You also get a glimpse into the mind of an autistic person and you see how challenging it must be. I liked the book very much and I’d read it again.
review 2: I so rarely give a book 5 stars on Goodrea
... moreds, but this one is incredible! Marcelo Sandoval's disability isn't exactly diagnosed, but seems to be on the autism spectrum and similar to Asperger's. He has attended a special school through 11th grade, and has a promised summer job doing what he loves--taking care of the therapy horses at the school. Then Marcelo's father decides that it is time for Marcelo to experience The Real World. This means that Marcelo will spend the summer working at his dad's law firm. If he does a good job--according to his dad's standards--then Marcelo can return to his beloved Patterson school for 12th grade. If he does not, then he must go to the school his father has selected--again, in The Real World. It was so incredible to get a feel for what a person like Marcelo would feel and how he/she would process what I take for granted. Stork maintained Marcelo's POV so wonderfully. I won't say any more, except READ THIS BOOK!(I listened to the audiobook. My only complaint is that the narrator pronounced Quintano with a "kw" at the beginning--his other Spanish-language pronunciations were fine.) less

Good book, but I need a break from the autism spectrum narrator.
