review 1: Very good, 4.6. Procrastination is not always detrimental; sometimes delay is beneficial. This book makes an interesting presentation of a number of instances where delay, checking and patience are well rewarded. For example, Dr. Atul Gawande made a life-saving contribution with his Checklist Manifesto for making medical decisions. 3M company waited 12 years for a discovery of an adhesive to become a major success (Post It notes)
review 2: Wait: The Art and Science of Delay picks on the common negative view in delay and reveals how individuals are benefited from doing so. Frank Partnoy’s listed various examples of how people should learn to adopt the art of delaying when making decisions whether in situations that decisions have to be made in short period o
... moref times or longer ones for the fact that they gain more acknowledgements during the time of waiting by having the “spared” time to analyze the situation and make the best out of it. In my opinion, Partnoy’s ideas have completely flipped the original thought of mine over especially the part that all human beings are victims of unconsciously holding biases and attitudes and thus should slow down for a chance to be notified on such behaviors. It is also a book that will not merely insert new thoughts on minds but have an impact on changing ones behavior. less
