review 1: Okay, so this is the stuff Ennis is really good at--violence with religious implications and conspiracies involving earthly and spiritual realms. This book contains two storylines--the first involving a conspiracy by a powerful group called the Grail to rig the second coming, or the appearance of the second coming of Christ. Definitely not for those who are easily offended by, uh, blasphemy. The second storyline is the origin story of Cassidy--the Preacher's vampire friend. It's a decent read, but kind of quiet and unremarkable in light of the whiz-bang that comes before.
review 2: Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy are on another crazy adventure after their escape from various characters (and deadly situations) out to get them in Volume 1 including The Saint of Kil
... morelers, the police, various law enforcment agencies and even Arseface's dad (who winds up shooting himself, after Jesse commands him to castrate himself in the last edition. Sick)This time, the book contains many new characters being introduced to the readers and fans of the Preacher series such as Herr Starr (a bald headed German hitman who looks like Agent 47 from The Hitman video game series that works for a mysterious organization known as The Grail), Cassidy's girlfriend (who winds up dead btw) Jesus DeSade (a wealthy sex maniac and pervert who throws a wild sex party in this edition from the collected issues) The Messiah (a supposed descendentfrom Jesus who is well.. Inbred) Allfather D'Aronique (similar to a pope but Allfather weighs around 500 pounds or more, is very fat and likes to eat a lot of food. He also is bulimic. And likes to kill people when the mood strikes him)The Grail seeks to bring about the Second Coming and put The Messiahin his place though Star wants Jesse as The Messiah, esp. with his power to command people to do anything he wants from Genesis inhibiting his body. The edition is bloody, violent, has foul language andsexual imagery. I do not recommend it for people who areeasily offended. It is for mature readers only. Somehilarious situations ensue (such as Bob Glover meetingStarr in a back alley, Starr thinking he is going to meetup with a hooker and then Bob proceeds to um... Well let'sjust say that Starr starts to have Homosexual tendenciesafter their encounter)Garth Ennis and Steve Dillion have written somehumerous parts in the book (such as bad thingsalways happening to Starr lol) and as alwaysplotholes abound here, mainly theology wise. We also get to meet Bob Glover and Freddy Allen, Sexual Investigators based in San Franciso who arealso Homosexuals as well. less

Still interested in where this is going to take me. I like Cassidy a little too much I think.
