The Punisher MAX
review 1: i'm not a comic book reader. but after reading a few of ennis' series, i really fell in love with his boundary-less style and the extremes to which he would go. and a friend of mine told me to check out a few of the punisher ones he wrote. check out my history. i totally did. when it came to this one, though, it had a certain pitch to it. a style far more subdued and to the point than any of the others. not just one simple crossfire after another, not a series of clever ambushes on likable but hateable villains. this one gave a groundwork on frank castle, the soldier. emptied his soul for you. explained the darkness behind it. made small, unveiled comments about the vietnam war and the country's involvement in the action in the first place. of all the punisher max comics, ... morethis is the one that i really want to watch as a film, a short movie, or a television show. i want to see how they'd do this one. it's got all of the excellent piece to make a solid action movie with a purpose beyond adrenaline. great read! fully recommend it!
review 2: I enjoyed Punisher Born IMMENSELY! Where Born left off, Valley Forge Valley Forge finished. It feels to me like a the 3rd film in a trilogy... Born being the first, and the titles that follow the sequel, Valley Forge Valley Forge is the climax. All the stories wrapped up nice and neat. Yes a majority of Valley Forge Valley Forge spends referencing Born, BUT it also finds a way to tie in all the Punisher's exploits as well as the Mother Russia. I enjoyed it more then some of the other titles. And would recommend it to anyone who has read the series thus far. less

A great end to a great run, that achieves the pathos that has been hinted all along.
