review 1: First off, I love Gena Showalter. I read anything she writes and generally like it. This was an enjoyable bit of fluff and a fun way to spend a few hours. However, I have to agree with some other reviewers that there were some serious issues with the plot. The levels of trust and romance that develop between the hero and heroine is rather unbelievable. The trust between the hero and his partner is never really explained. But, most of my issues can be rooted in the novella length. If this were a full novel where the relationships were more explored and developed, I think it would be great. Sooo...Is this going to be a new series? *shrug* If so, I'd read it!!
review 2: If this is the beginning to a series then it is one hell of a beginning. Sean and Gabby have ab... moreilities that make them a bit supernatural. Sean was born with his ability to manipulate shadows. Gabby was abducted at a young age and experimented on. She and nine other kids had chips implanted in their brains, which allow them to download files from computers directly into their brain. Sean's secret agency found three of the kids but they died because of distress and fear. His mission is to gain her trust and being her in alive. Obviously he doesn't plan on being on the run with her or to actually fall in love with her. Missions are temporary after all. Fast paced and fun, this story was cool but something was missing to make me fall in love completely. less
