review 1: What can I say about the best book I have ever seen written about old dogs? The pictures are beautiful and funny. The text is hilarious and perfectly accompanies the photos. The dogs are presented with dignity and joy and both the text and the photos shine with the adulation all old dogs deserve (even the ones that bite the photographer!) But do you expect otherwise from two award-winning journalists with three Pulitzers between them? I will read and book these two do together no matter what the subject. I am blessed that they chose my favorite subject to lead the way.
review 2: Books about puppies are a dime a dozen. Books about older dogs are much more rare. Having two dogs who are considered seniors, this book grabbed my attention. It was simply marvelous.... more Many of the vignettes (with accompanying photographs) were humorous, some were poignant, and a few were downright sad. But they all showed these old fellers and gals at their vulnerable and accepting best. I loved it. less
