review 1: Just like its prequel, I absolutely adored this book. The characters are all their own with no crossing over of personalities and they are easy to connect with, their feelings are absorbed into your own mind as you read and you eventually begin to feel as though you are experiencing all of the events firsthand. I honestly don't believe that this could have been written any better, however, I would love for more novels based from this series, perhaps even printings of the in-game books. Overall, I definitely recommend reading both this and The Infernal City.
review 2: This is the latter part of two novels, which reads very much like one continuous novel (I don't at all understand why it was published as two books), so it was only natural that I had to know what
... morewas going to happen.Overall, this is quality writing. Even though I'm not wetting myself over it, the novels are a testament to the author's solid abilities and talent. He shows that, *and* experience. It's not an absolutely amazing novel, but all-round well executed, both in terms of characters, plot and fast-paced action. In other words, I didn't find much to nag about. But, since I'm rather a spoilsport, I'll mention the one thing that struck me as not quite right:When a character develops, when they decide something major or changes their mind, I expect it to be because something happened throughout the story to shape them; either as a gradual development or realization, or as the effect of a sudden, major event. Therefore, I suppose I didn't quite get some of the characters reasons for their actions, which, sadly, didn't get me as close to them as I would have wished. With a couple of the characters, I at some point stopped understanding the reasons for their very drastic actions, and somehow I feel that's an important point, and that perhaps all the potential that was in those colorful people wasn't exploited. Also, the conclusion came on a bit too fast for my tastes. However, Tamriel is a wonderful and exciting world to live in, and there's lots of material here that *does* reach its full potential.Also... If you've read the first novel, you can hardly avoid the second. less
