review 1: I am a fan of the films and was looking for supplementary material that would flesh out the universe. The book gives a good back story for Koba and provides insight into some of his motivations in the second film. It also introduces several human characters, some more interesting than others, as they deal with the simian flu pandemic and collapse of society. I wanted more information on the apes themselves and less about some of the human characters, but overall this was a fun little book. It also had a bunch of typos. Nice.
review 2: The story in between Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. What I found most interesting was the outbreak of the Simian Flu and how it wiped out a large percentage of the world's population. The ensuin... moreg chaos that followed with people turning on each other was depressing but fascinating. Unlike the stories from the 60's movies, this updated version has you rooting for the apes. less
