review 1: Okay, so Gretchen McNeil's Ten is no Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None. But it's still a fun, fast-moving, modern YA version of the classic Christie whodunit, and that's enough. Ten teens, one of whom is young writer Meg Pritchard, come to an isolated house on Henry Island to party, only to find their pasts and murder waiting instead. The teen characters are a bit stereotypical, and some of the murder mystery events are a bit unbelievable, but I wasn't expecting a literary classic, just a fun whodunit. On that score, Ten delivers.
review 2: Oh my god. What made this book really creepy is that all the things that happened, could actually happen in real life. It's so hard to find a suspenseful, psychologically - thrilling book nowadays.. But this was an
... moreabsolute masterpiece. I thought I had the killer figured out, but whoa. I did NOT see the ending coming at all. The one thing I didn't like was that the ending seemed really rushed to me for some reason. like the author was making a mad scramble to finish the whole mystery and get the book done in a few pages... but oh well. I loved, loved, loved it. I had to check my windows and doors the night I finished it. (I recommend reading it at night by the way) haha lolol x) less
