review 1: Gross writes beautifully, the characters are well-developed, and yet this book just couldn't hold my interest. Perhaps it's because of my expectations. I went into the novel expecting it to focus on the mystery surrounding a young girl's disappearance. Instead it focuses on the neighbors in a small town. It just felt slow and toward the end, I found myself skimming ahead just to discover Linsey's fate...
review 2: This was my first novel by Cross. Although it was very compelling, and hooked me right from the beginning, I thought there would be more to the story. Don't get me wrong, the glimpses into the lives of the neighbors were interesting. However, I felt like I needed to know more. I read this book because author Catherine MacKenzie recommended it. Since... more I love her books, I felt I was sure to like books she recommends. less
