review 1: An interesting and thought-provoking read. Rosin overstates her case a little but I do think she has her finger on the pulse. So much has changed for men and women in such a short time that many people are being left behind. Rosin's argument is more complex and sophisticated than some people imagine: no, she is not saying women are on top and men irrelevant; no, she is not glorying in the male demise, quite the opposite. As well as pointing out just how far women have come in so many fields and areas of the rapidly changing job market, she also indicates the downsides of the changes for both men and women, and indeed for male-female relationships in both public and, especially, private ways. This book is only for the open-minded so many feminists will likely hat... moree it.
review 2: I'm sure at the time when Rosin started researching this material it was fresh, but by the time I read it a lot of it has been commented about and presented in magazine and newspaper articles. Nevertheless, there's plenty of beef here to consider about the reasons for men's demise. Kind of depressing because I have a son and this causes me great anxiety. How to prevent his end? I guess I'll just have to make sure he helps with the dishes. less
