review 1: This book is a book you just have to shut everyone off for. If I had to choose to pick a book to read over and over again my whole life it would probably have to be this one. Portia the main character gets sent to a way-ward school by her aunt. Portia ends up joining a wonder show to escape mister and his way-ward house for girls. I pre-order this book right away and when I got it I dove right in and did not regret. I'm not gonna lie I did get this book because of cover art (which really applies to me)and because of how I love "freaks" and world wonders.
review 2: I had a hard time reading this book and had to force myself to finish. Portia's life was just not intriguing enough for me to be invested in. Although the style of using snapshots of all the character
... mores was somewhat interesting, it left me not knowing a single character well, which was frustrating. I also felt that I didn't get to know the circus very well, either. For example, the word "bally" is used over and over, but by the end of the novel, I still felt I only had a vague understanding of what it meant. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the book. less

Brilliant, confident writing; excellent setting; beautiful story. I'm still a little bit in awe.

I liked it but towardws the middle it got boring. I like to read books that keep me interested.
