review 1: This is not my favorite that's for sure. The first 3 books I gave 5 stars, this one barely made 2 stars. It was somewhat boring and uneventful in comparison to the previous books in this series. The hero is not so much a hero, he is pretty blah. The heroine I do like very much. I also like her back story and her family, including her butler, Max! She was strong, smart and witty. There is lots of dialogue throughout the book which is great, I do like lots of dialogue. The story line and plot were a good concept, however the story just got lost and there seemed to be too much filler nonsense. The opposite of the previous books. They were full of anticipation and never a dull moment, whereas this book I had to skim pages to get to something happening. Just meh...I will of cou... morerse still read the next book and hope the author just had some writer's block with this story. I am looking forward to Lady Olympia's book.As for the narrator, she is good. The men sound like men, the ladies sound like ladies and she does give most everyone their own distinct voice. I got this as a free read with my KU subscription and 2.99 on audible. Glad I didn't pay anymore than that.
review 2: This is a historical romance with major paranormal elements. It takes place in England in 1790. Sir Argus Wherlocke appears naked in the garden of Lorelei Sundun's family, then disappears before her eyes after speaking with her briefly. She uses her own talent of Finding to locate & rescue him. Someone wants to coopt the Wherlocke family talents, starting with Sir Argus, and he's willing to use torture. Both the Wherlockes and the related Vaughns have various talents of a paranormal sort. Part of a series which includes If He's Wild, If He's Wicked, If He's Sinful. The romantic part was okay except that Sir Argus was too firmly convinced that all marriages in his family eventually end in disaster, despite several recent examples that have come out very well.I really like family life scenes, especially when the Wherlockes (who have come to rescue Sir Argus) meet Lorelei's extensive extended family. Lorelei is one of 17 children and that's not all the children & other people who live in the house. less
