review 1: An amazing book. I don't usually read literary fiction but this was really good. The book wasn't too long, but I finished it in just two days because the story drew me in. The story was very nonlinear, and in that sense had a Calvino-esque flavor to it. I had a little trouble keeping up with - and picturing - all the different characters. But it was very well done. Especially considering it was a female author focused mainly, but not exclusively, on male characters, from their point of view, both as boys and as men. Highly recommended.

I'll give her point for originality, but not much else. I didn't really care for any of the boys, and that is where she lost me. less
