review 1: 3 1/2 stars.A kind of perplexing story that leaves you scratching your head. Many trails to follow, some in straight lines diminishing in the distance, some looping and connecting back to others. It's easy to become lost in the desert even if you think you are still on the trail. Everything looks the same, distances are unreliable. The mind wanders. Is this about time travel? Alien abduction? Indian folklore? Insanity? You tell me.
review 2: I just didn't get it. I'm not trying to be a hater or diminish anyone else's enjoyment of the book, but I could not follow this story from beginning to end. This novel feels like a collection of unresolved, only semi-connected threads, and the work as a whole lacks resolution or deeper meaning. Maybe there's a running theme
... more, of people feeling disconnected, but that's a stretch.I've read all of Kunzru's other novels, and loved them. I think he's best known for "The Impressionist," but "My Revolutions" and "Transmission" are also great stories! Kunzru's writing is top-notch and he's outstanding at crafting passages that feel hallucinatory. I don't think there's enough substance to tie all the pieces of this work into a cohesive story. less

Imaginative and thought provoking watch out for the precipice-like ending!

I'm not quite sure what to make of this yet. But it was wonderful stuff.

I want someone to explain this book to me over a big cup of tea.
