review 1: I loved this book! Particularly so for a first detective/crime fiction novel (where, let's face it, the quality bar is pretty low). It read like a much more senior effort than I would normally expect from a first effort. The story was a little too convoluted to then wrap up so quickly and neatly in a blazing last few pages. But in the end, a good, fun read. I'll look forward to more from Harry Dolan.
review 2: Very unusual kind of mystery novel. Never have I read mystery where characters kept tell stories. Shouldn't explain too much here so not to spoil the story. I gave it a 3 star because though it kept me intrigued through out the story the intensity was a little short. Simply because the author used the same tactic, telling stories, through out the book... more. Still I enjoyed the book, and there were parts that I did enjoy tremendously. less
