review 1: I really enjoyed Bad Things Happen and was super excited to pick up this book. I intended to read this book over a few days but ended up reading most of it in one night. I noticed that a lot of people didn't like the alternating view points in this book but I absolutely LOVED it! This book had a lot of twists and every time you thought you know the answer to something you just got left with more questions. At first I wasn't too excited about the ending of the book BUT it wrapped up a lot of loose ends and left the story in a great place for another book, guess I can't be too mad about that. The only thing I did't like about the book is that near the end I think the plot started to get to unrealistic and far-fetched. Over all it was a great read and I can't wait for the ... morenext!
review 2: I was so impressed with Dolan's first novel, Bad Things Happen, and this one kicks things up a couple of notches. Great characters, great plot lines, great writing ... the whole package was super. It's main appeal to me, of course, is that it's a Michigan story and much of the area is very familiar. I know exactly where those buildings, businesses, and towns are ... I've even been to some of them! But the quality of the writing is the real gem. Excellent. less
