review 1: Nice break from the historical fiction I've had my nose in lately. Paranormal mystery with steamy romance...very formulaic but still a fun read. A little of the dialogue was stilted..."Did he accost you?" I know what accost means, but I don't hear that in every day language. Also, the description of facial expressions of "she arched an eyebrow" was so overused. Picky, picky, picky, I know. In the long run it didn't affect the story. My other complaint is that so much attention was focused on the romance and heroine, the other characters, including the "baddies" had no development. Just "here they are...they did it!"
review 2: This was very okay. I liked the first one better. I do plan on reading the last book in the trilogy, but not to see what happens with
... morethe next mortal romance so much as what happens to the ghost. The way the 2 main characters fell, didn't really work for me. The two didn't have even a superficial relationship in the past. Lust, I understand. But I just didn't really buy in to them falling in love. I almost would have rather it been left with them thinking they might love each other. The end, I don't know. It didn't seem to fit the "rules" of the afterlife as far as the story was concerned. It felt too contrived and too easily done with. It just seemed odd that this was the group and time that justice could finally take place with. less
