review 1: Another great mystery by Heather Graham. She is a very talented author who makes it look easy to write an historical mystery with a little romance and a little paranormal in the mix. This first book of the Bone Island trilogy gave the reader a taste of the stories and legends of Key West. She showed what just a little bit of crazy down the ancestral line can do 200 years later when trying to seek revenge for a great great great grandfather who was actually a murderer and a liar. This one kept me guessing right up to the end. Great book! I highly recommend it. Now on to the second book of the trilogy!
review 2: I like the ideas behind this trilogy, but the execution is lacking and the dialogue is really bad at times. In Writing 101, one of the first thing... mores you learn is "show, don't tell." I think the writer missed this memo. And, this may seem stupid but, the author is too liberal with exclamation marks...and always, it seems, in the wrong place. But, those flaws aside, I liked the story until the end...but I'm sorry, the "villain" and his reasons for the murders? Completely implausible. I'll probably read the others cuz I got them all at once and I hate to waste a book. But, I'm not looking forward to them. less
