review 1: There are really a very few books in which I don't connect to the protagonists. This book falls in that category.I hated the h.She was selfish, vain, and just a plain bitch. She sleeps with her best friends brother, who is already engaged, just because she feels horny. And the H, who is clearly a douche bag, cheats on his fiance with the h. After that, both the h/H blame the only innocent party, which is the fiance, because she wanted to save herself till the wedding night. That bitch! How dare she.Anywhoo, the H still marries his fiance(Missy) after coming clean. Missy, who, in my opinion should have kicked him to a curb a long time ago, says she forgives him but doesn't trust him anymore. This leads to the H/h calling Missy a manipulative woman. No one thought that may be ... morethe H should earn her trust back, rather than expecting it like it was his God given right. All I can say is, both the H/h are horrible, selfish, idiotic people, who deserve each other.
review 2: When I read the other books in this series, I came away from them not liking the character of Gina very much. Luckily Rice has done a good job of explaining her actions (mostly condemned in the last few books) and actually giving a bit of her background and why she is the way she is. What I then struggled with, however, is the hero of the piece, Carter. He starts off the story as a chauvinistic idiot and pretty much carries on that way for the rest of the novel - no character progression apparently needed. I also despised the way that when Gina made a decision about her future or what she wanted to do, like leaving Savannah, his response is to announce that she can't go yet because he hasn't finished having sex with her to his satisfaction yet. It's horrible behaviour and meant that I cringed through all of the subsequent sex scenes rather than finding them hot.It also bothered me that Gina, supposedly such a strong character, just rolled over and did what Carter wanted all the time. It was unbelievable for the character especially given how often it's noted in the novel that she had had therapy to help resolve her relationship issues.Lastly, I was very disappointed in the way that Gina's earlier miscarriage was dealt with. It felt like a bigger deal was made about it in Marnie's story than in this one and it's practically swept under the rug at the end just so Carter can make a grand, sweeping gesture of 'love'.I liked Gina more in this story, but at the end of day, I just really didn't like her story at all. I much preferred the other 3 stories in this series. And any novel which tries to sell a controlling b*****d as a romantic hero is a definite no-no for me.1 star (although probably 1.5 just for Gina). less
